Cadillac announce Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas as their driver line-up as they join the Formula One grid from the 2026 season onwards.
The former Red Bull driver and current Mercedes reserve driver are set to return to full-time racing after a year’s absence. Cadillac, who will take the tally of teams on the grid to 11 for the first time in 10 years, have chosen a very experienced duo to make their start in Formula One.
Perez, who has 281 race starts (including six wins and 39 podiums), was dropped by Red Bull at the end of the 2024 season after a difficult year and was replaced by Liam Lawson heading into the 2025 season. Bottas, who returned to Mercedes as a reserve driver after leaving Sauber at the end of 2024, will be Perez’s teammate. The Finn has 246 race starts to his name, including 10 wins and 67 podiums. Both drivers have reportedly signed multi-year contracts.

Several names were thrown into the mix when speculating Cadillac’s future line-up; drivers like Felipe Drugovich, Zhou Guanyu, Mick Schumacher, Jack Doohan (who was dropped by Alpine earlier this season) and Jak Crawford (who currently sits second in the F2 standings) were all up for consideration – but ultimately, Cadillac chose veterans over youthful prospects.
With potential teething problems expected for Cadillac during their first Formula One season, a reliable pair of Perez and Bottas could be just what they need to steer their ship in the right direction.
