This weekend saw drivers racing the streets of Vegas, surrounded by the glitz,
glamour and maximalism of Las Vegas Street Circuit. Characterised by its
unpredictable twists, turns, and bright neon lights illuminating the night skies of
Nevada, the Las Vegas Grand Prix is certainly one of the most memorable races on
the Formula 1 calendar. Since its addition in 2023, Vegas has proved a grand prix
weekend isn’t just about the racing; it’s a spectacle in itself. The fast-paced, upbeat
and intense weekend sees drivers, teams and fans embracing the chaos and pulling
out all the stops; think casino culture, A-star celebrity appearances, and impromptu
‘Dress To Impress’ contests amongst drivers. This year was no different.

The 2025 Las Vegas Grand Prix saw the following drivers make the top ten:

  1. Max Verstappen
  2. George Russell
  3. Kimi Antonelli
  4. Charles Leclerc
  5. Carlos Sainz
  6. Isack Hadjar
  7. Nico Hulkenberg
  8. Lewis Hamilton
  9. Esteban Ocon
  10. Ollie Bearman

At the front of everyone’s minds was the dramatic title fight between Lando Norris,
Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen. Since Norris’ recent surge to the front and his
strong performance in qualifying, all eyes were on him to secure victory once more
as he started Vegas from P1. However, Vegas saw both McLaren’s disqualified post-
race due to their cars not meeting requirements. This paved the way for Red Bull’s
Verstappen to emerge even more triumphant, securing both P1 and narrowing down
the gap in the championship battle, tying the current world champion with former
Drivers’ Championship leader Piastri, who’s performance has recently been in
decline. The pair both have 366 points each, with Norris ahead in 390, proving there
is still all to play for.

Additionally, Mercedes’ George Russell and Kimi Antonelli were successful at Vegas,
with Russell inheriting P2 and Antonelli P3 as a result of McLaren’s disqualification.
Fortune also befell Williams’ Carlos Sainz, who started off in P3 and managed to
maintain a top five finish, crossing the line in P5. Conversely, Albon’s strong
performance in free practice, where he was second fastest in FP2 and third fastest in
FP3, did not transmit to the track, where he began in P16 and ended with a DNF
after contact with Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton, despite the incident with Albon
and his P20 start, managed to secure points for the team and finished in an
impressive P10, his teammate Charles Leclerc ahead in P6.

As we look ahead to Qatar, the second race of an intense triple-header finale, all
eyes are on the top three. Who will claim the Drivers’ Championship and the title of
WDC 2025?

The next race takes place at the Losail Circuit in Qatar on Sunday 30th November,
4pm GMT.
