With Formula 1 finished for the year, and months to wait for the action to restart, The Fastest Sector thinks you should tune in to Formula E. Here are three reasons to watch FE this season:
Attack Mode
Attack mode is a temporary power boost that drivers can activate during the races. The drivers need to go through an activation zone at specific points on the track. It is pressed to boost an attack, making the car go slightly faster. Drivers activate this by selecting one of three modes; two and four, three and three or four and two. It certainly spices up on track battles.
Qualifying
Qualifying involves two groups of 11 drivers. In this stage, they have ten minutes to secure themselves a top four place in their group. Achieving this sends them through to the quarter final, which is called duels.
In duels, members of the same group go against each other. First place faces off against fourth, while second faces third. The fastest driver from each quarter final moves on to the semi final, and then the winners of the semis go on to the final where pole position is decided. Pole position wins the driver two points for their team.
Very different from Formula 1, with space for many twists and turns throughout!
A Full Day
In Formula E, FP2, Qualifying and the race are on the same day. If you tune in for the race, there is a whole day of racing to catch up on before! Some weekends there is a double race, meaning that this schedule is adopted for two days.
