Citroen Racing announced its drivers line-up for the 2026/2027 Formula E season as we approach the London season finale. Even though the season isn’t over yet, it can be said it was a successful first one for the French team. Their current fifth position in the teams’ championship and the multiple podium finishes prove it.
After announcing its commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and the new Gen4 car which will debut in season 13 of the championship, Citroen Racing also revealed its drivers.
Citroen Racing Drivers Line-up
The team decided to confirm both current drivers, Nick Cassidy and Jean-Eric Vergne. This decision came after some incredibly strong results from the pair in the past races of the championship. Both drivers have valuable experience in the category and their feedback has been vital in the development of the Gen4 car, as stated by Citroen’s CEO Xavier Chardon.
As the MSG’s Managing director, Beth Paretta stated in the team press release:
“We’re delighted to continue this journey with Jean-Éric and Nick. Beyond their performances on track, they play a key role in the development of the GEN4 thanks to their experience and the quality of their technical feedback. The transition to the GEN4 era will mark a major milestone for Formula E, and we have one clear objective: to arrive at the start of Season 13 with a competitive and reliable car as we battle for the championship title.”
His beautiful win in the Mexico E- Prix represented an important milestone as Citroen Racing first victory in Formula E. The driver secured four further podiums during the season. For this reasons, Nick Cassidy fully earned his contract extension for season 13. After all, with his 104 points in the drivers’ standings, the Citroen driver is still in contention for the title. The Kiwi said “I’m very happy to continue with Citroën Racing Formula E Team for Season 13. We’ve built a strong relationship within the team, and I’m looking forward to continuing the development of the GEN4.“
On the other hand, his teammate Jean-Eric Vergne experienced a difficult start of the season getting better as it progressed. The French driver got his only podium so far in the second race of the Shanghai double header.
“I’m proud to continue this journey with the team. Developing a new generation of race car is always a unique challenge for a driver. The arrival of the GEN4 is incredibly exciting and will mark a major step forward for the championship. We still have plenty of work ahead of us, but I’m confident we’ll arrive at the start of Season 13 with strong foundations and be ready to fight from the very first race.”
